Pino Saverino


Mention a movie star’s name, and it’s more than likely that Pino Saverino has cooked for them. His regular clients include Kathleen Turner, Sophia Loren, Liza Minelli, Sylvester Stallone. What draws them in? “It’s simple: they want to eat well, they want to keep their weight down, and I help them do that without feeling deprived.” As a former Executive Chef of Il Ristorante at the Gables Club in Coral Gables, Florida, and of Pino’s Place in Coral Gables, Pino has won a loyal fan base among stars, jet-setters, and ordinary food-loving folks for his light, refreshing cooking style and his ability to turn humble ingredients into gastronomic feasts. Born in Gioia Tauro, Calabria, Pino grew up in Turin and trained in France, where he later opened a restaurant. He visited Miami in 1985, fell in love with the climate and the city, and decided to stay on: “I grew up on Mamma’s cooking, eating olive oil, herbs, a little cheese, lots of pasta, some fish. But most of all, I grew up with the four seasons. And that’s how I cook in my restaurant.” Pino recently moved to Denver, CO where he started his new venture: Saverino Restaurant.
