Alberto Perez

Since childhood, Alberto Perez has shown a great interest in the culinary arts. Growing up in Latin America-where cooking is part of life's pleasures- gave Alberto the chance to enjoy food and experiment with his creativity and imagination. At 16 years of age, he joined the Culinary Institute of Caracas, Venezuela, where he concentrated mostly on Mediterranean flavors and cuisine. In the following years, his enriched working experience led him to the wonders of Italian cooking, a love that would win his heart completely.

When in Italy, Alberto met a special person; chef and wine critic for the magazine "Il Gambero Rosso", Roberto Minnetti, whose passion and education for Italian cuisine is well known. Roberto saw in Alberto his longing for the secrets of Italian cuisine and decided to give him the chance to work and study with him at his restaurant in Montalcino, motherland of the amazing Brunello wine.

During his stay, Alberto received several offers from all over the world. He decided to settle down in New York City where he received a proposal from "Serafina" restaurant. After three and a half years, you can still find Alberto creating "something special" to surprise his customers; in fact, Serafina's concept works well for him. An excellent product at the source, elaborated with grandma's love and served at the table in a simple and delicate way. His next step, to open his own restaurant.
