Bernard Ros

Growing up in France, Chef Bernard Ros learned that good food was the key to making people happy. After 30 years of international restaurant experience as an owner, consultant, and corporate chef, Bernard is now making New Yorkers happy with his exquisite culinary creations. Although Bernard never went to culinary school, he was taught the traditional techniqes by working in his sister's restaurant and learning all aspects of the restaurant business.

In 1967, with the encouragement of his sister, Bernard traveled to Montreal to visit the World's Fair. He then decided he wanted to visit New York for a three day mini-vacation. Fascinated by the diversity of cuisines and eclectic vibe that the city had to offer, Bernard decided to stay and never returned permanently to France.

New Yorkers may remember Bernard during the 1970's at Le Deuville or in the 1980's at Café Comedy, where he served a traditional French fare. Today, after extensive foreign travel and study, Bernard has perfected his innovative sense of flavors.

For Meli-Melo, he designed a completely unique menu, merging Asian, Mediterranean, and French cuisines. Feast at Meli-Melo and experience the inviting personality that has made this restaurant a welcome oasis and second home for many.
