Maryann Terillo
Considered one of the best female chefs in New York, Maryann Terillo remains humble about her culinary prowess. Maryann was trained at the New York Restaurant School, where she returned to share her extraordinary skills with hundreds of aspiring chefs, many of whom are running their own kitchens today.
Prior to returning to the New York Restaurant School to teach, Maryann began to perfect her culinary style at the Café de la Gare, which she owned from 1985 to 1991. It was here that she found herself drawn to a robust and direct style of French cooking such that food and restaurant critic Mimi Sheraton praised her as "a keeper of the flame of cuisine bonne femme, the traditional women cooking, that both Balzac and Escoffier considered France's best."
During her teaching stint at the New York Restaurant School, she opened her own catering business, Two Divas, which continues to operate today. As the company began to thrive, Maryann left the school to operate Two Divas full time. It was then that she also spent time developing a one-week cooking program in Tuscany with friend Claudia Sarno, a chef at Babbo. The program is a culinary adventure that immerses participants in the food and everyday life of Tuscany each summer.
But Maryann always returns to the place she loves best, Jarnac, a restaurant where she can create dishes in her own unique French-bistro style and embrace diners with her warmth.
