Latium
The
heart of Latium is Rome, where people come to view the Roman ruins,
Renaissance squares and baroque churches. But Latium is more than
just the Eternal City. It is a diverse region, with its woods and
pastures, hills and valleys, rivers and lakes as well as about 25
nature parks and reserves. Also, the southern and western borders
of the land are touched with the blue sea.
The artistic beauty of Latium is not only from the hands of man with
the sanctuaries, churches, towns and villages, but also from the sculpting
of nature that has formed gorges, caves, extinct volcanoes, cliffs
and caves to beautify the area. The location of Latium lends it to
be a crossroads region in that the north is similar to the hills of
Tuscany and the south is more rugged.
