Liguria

The name Liguria originated from the name of the people who lived in the region: Liguris. It is bordered in the north by Lombardy and Emilia-Romagna; in the east by Tuscany; in the south by the Ligurian Sea; and in the west by France.

The climate is mild because of Liguria's proximity to the sea and the northern mountains, which protect the region from the cold and wind. Tourism is one of the most important industries, but the climate is favorable for agriculture as well, so flowers, ornamental plants, fruits and vegetables are grown. Half of Liguria's population lives in Genoa, which is also Italy's largest port. The other half of the population is mainly concentrated by the water.

Liguria, home of the Italian Riviera, is one of the most beautiful regions in Italy that is visited mainly by tourists who desire a relaxing vacation at a coastal resort.
