What Italian wine do you drink on a regular basis? Everything from Barolo and Barbaresco to Supertuscans and "Supersoutherns." Chianti and other Sangiovese-based wines—great flavors and pairs well with many foods. Our Falesco Merlot because it's well-priced, well-balanced and full bodied.
What Italian wines are really moving off your shelves? Lower-priced Tuscan wines like Sangiovese, or Valpolicella classicos. In general, rich, ripe wines that will be best if consumed now. Wines made from the Nero D'Avola grape of Southern Italy/Sicily. Prices are great for these wines that are nicely fruit-forward with soft tannins. Pinot Grigios because these refreshing white wines are good for any kind of occasion and complement many types of food.
Best Buys:

Caparzo Sangiovese; $9.99.
Great Sangiovese nose of raspberry fruit with a terracotta clay undertone. This is perfect weeknight pizza and pasta wine. Or try it with burgers and sausages.

Zenato Ripassa; $19.99.
Ripassa is deep ruby red in color with a complex nose of dried fruit and licorice. The wine has excellent depth of fruit and is well structured, lingering on the palate. This is a wine for the richest of meats and risottos. Will stand up to great cheese!

Avignonesi Vino Nobile di Montepulciano; $19.99.
This is a gorgeous wine with an unmistakeable nose of Tuscan soil, red fruits and a hint of Florentine market leather. One of the greatest values for a world class Tuscan wine.

Castelvero Cortese 2001; $6.99.
The perfect summer white wine. It's light-bodied with a great lemon-lime, zesty flavor that is thirst-quenching and leaves a clean, refreshing finish.

Marchesi di Barolo Maràia Barbera Monferrato 2001; $7.99.
A red wine this good at this price is almost unimaginable. It has rich, earthy aromas, flavors of plums and black fruits, and a bright acidity.

Lucignano Chianti 2000; $12.99.
Super smooth and supple Chianti from the region just outside of the Classico zone. Black cherry flavors blend nicely with a light vanilla oak touch and soft tannins for an easy to drink but great food wine.

Kris Pinot Grigio; $11.99.
This wine has aromas of bitter almonds, apple and pear. It complements pastas, vegetables and fresh cheese, or is great as an apéritif.

Falesco Merlot 2000; $17.99.
Deep purple color and a big nose of chocolate, mocha, blackberries and cherries, the wine is full bodied with low acidity and sweet tannins.

Villa Puccini Supertuscan; $12.99.
Vivid aromas of black cherries, leather and dried fruit combine with rustic flavors in this medium to full bodied wine. It has excellent texture and firm tannins.
