Red Wines

Perfumed, fresh, extremely
quaffable wines versatile enough to pair with fish.
Soft in tannins, these wines accept a variety of food pairings; best when drunk between one and five years from vintage. Fleshy, meaty, large-scaled wines meant to age and develop in time; better balance of freshness and complexity when young.
  2003 Planeta La Segreta $16.
This wine comes from a relatively new, yet highly successful winery in Sicily. Scents of ripe berries are alluring, leading to an elegant, soft taste. Try this ruby-red gem alongside barbecued meats.
2002 Donnafugata Sedara $16.
From an estate in Sicily that once produced Marsala, this wine is made exclusively with Nero d'Avola grapes. It is dark and thick, and excellent with a meaty lasagna.
    2001 Varaldo Dolcetto d'Alba $17.
Made from 100 percent Dolcetto grapes, this wine is deep-colored and full-bodied. Its silky sweet flavor is an excellent complement to aged pecorino or Parmigiano.
  2002 Santa Anastasia Passomaggio $19.
A former abbey on the northern coast of Italy has been transformed into this modern winery. The Passomaggio is a blend of Nero d'Avola and Merlot-a smooth and rich wine.
 
    2000 Allegrini La Grola $21.
The leading estate in the Valpolicella region of the Veneto produces this dense wine with a complex bouquet of licorice, espresso and cherries. An elegant wine for any special occasion.
    2001 Santadi Riserva Rocca Rubia $23.
This lush wine, from the southwest coast of Sardinia, is made from 100 percent Carignano grapes. Its full body makes it an ideal match for the hearty game dishes typical of the region.
      1998 Fazi Battaglia Passo del Lupo Riserva $31.
An intoxicating mix of Sangiovese and Montepulciano, this wine is aged in oak for 2 years and then in the bottle for another year, resulting in a rich, concentrated palate.
      2001 Cascina Ca' Rossa Audinaggio

The celebrated Nebbiolo is the star grape in this wine from Piedmont, a region known for its robust reds. It boasts a complex mix of fruit and spice scents, with a well-structured palate.
      1995 Taurino Patriglione $38.
Patriglione is Apulian slang for "the greatest father," and this wine lives up to the title. A combination of Malvasia Nera and Negroamaro, it displays scents of earth, licorice and leather.
      1999 Cottanera l'Ardenza $43.
From the slopes of Mount Etna comes this interesting wine made with Mondeuse grapes, traditionally grown in France. It is powerful, concentrated and perfect with a hearty roast.

White Wines

Light dishes with rich flavor, seafood, antipasti, simple pastas Seafood, frittatas, white meats, lighter truffle dishes. Grilled fish, flavorful pastas, lemon chicken, white meats.
Refreshing acidity, pure fruit flavors, clean, crisp finish, no evident oak. Most versatile whites; rich in texture, complex in flavor. More powerful, fleshy wines with less pronounced aromatic profile and fruit flavors, suitable for aging.

  Fazi Battaglia Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico $8.
A 100 percent Verdicchio from the Marches, this wine is clean and crisp with enticing fruity aromas laced with notes of roses. Try it with a chicken pizzaiola or other white meats.
 
  2003 MandraRossa Fiano $9.
The refreshing aromas of lemon and orange peel conjure images of the citrus groves in Sicily, where this wine is made. The dry taste is balanced and fruity-ideal with grilled seafood.
 
Falanghina $14.
A fresh and fruity choice from one of the leading winemakers in Ipirnia, Campania. Bold scents of citrus and pineapple hit the nose, followed by a fresh, clean, balanced palate.
2002 Elisabetta Le Marze Bianco $16.
This golden wine is sweet, smooth and refreshing. A blend of grapes from the vineyards of Tuscany, it is an ideal match for linguine alle vongole (pasta with clams).
2003 Zenato Lugana$14.
Made exclusively from Trebbiano grapes, this wine is velvety and rich. Try it as an aperitivo or with an antipasto platter, and let the almond and lemon scents shine through.
2003 Cottanera Barbazzale Bianco $17.
Made from native Sicilian grapes, the varietals in this wine are the same as those in Marsala. The bouquet is intense-herbs, flowers and exotic fruit-with a dry, delicious taste.
2002 Arneis Ceretto Blange $19.
Arneis grapes are indigenous to Piedmont, with a clear bouquet of pear and sour apple, mingled with smoky notes. The palate is bright and fruity-perfect for a light pasta dish.
2003 Saladini Pilastri Falerio Bianco $15.
This is a well-balanced, yet unusual blend of grapes. Trebbiano, Pecorino, Passerina and Chardonnay give it a floral nose and a fruity palate. A refreshing wine with tuna carpaccio.
  2003 Bottega Vinaia Pinot Grigio$20.
From family-farmed vineyards in Trentino comes this Pinot Grigio. The grapes are handpicked from the vines nestled in the Dolomites, producing a wine with a strong floral bouquet.
