Mozzarella Crostini with Warm Anchovy Sauce A web-exclusive recipe from Italian Cooking and Living
24 slices French bread
24 slices fresh mozzarella
8 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
4 salted anchovies, deboned, gutted, and rinsed
1/4 cup milk
Preheat the oven to 450°. Top each slice of bread with
1 slice of the mozzarella and place in a roasting pan. Bake until the mozzarella
melts, about 15 minutes; brush with 2 tablespoons of the melted butter twice
during baking. Meanwhile, cook the anchovies in the remaining butter until melted.
Add the milk and keep warm. Arrange the crostini on a platter and pour the anchovy
sauce over them. Serve immediately. Serves 8
