Banana Fritters with Saffron Stems

2 bananas, peeled and sliced
2 tablespoons sugar, plus more
1/2 cup rum
1 egg
1/2 cup whole milk
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
canola oil for frying
4 walnuts, ground
1 tablespoon saffron stems

In a bowl, add the sugar and rum. Add the bananas and let marinate for 1/2 hour. In a separate bowl, mix the egg with the milk, flower, saffron stems. Coat the bananas in the batter and fry them in enough hot canola oil to cover them. Move to a pan lined with paper towel, sprinkle with sugar and garnish with the walnuts..
