Chocolate Cream and Strawberry Parfait

1 cup whole milk
2 teaspoons cornstarch
1 ½ cup heavy cream
5 ounces bittersweet chocolate
12 ounces strawberries, washed and cut in half lengthwise

Whisk the cornstarch in the milk, add ½ cup of the heavy cream and the chocolate. On a double boiler, cook the mixture for a few minutes, until completely melted and cream-like. Whip the remaining cream to medium peaks. Assemble the parfaits: in 4 tall glasses (pilsner beer glasses work great), pour layers of chocolate cream, whipped cream and strawberries as you like. Serves 4.
